Amanda Muryn, B.Sc.,B.Sc.OT, MACP.

Amanda Muryn is a Registered Psychologist and the owner and operator of Solution Focused Psychology. Her practice specializes in the assessment and treatment of children who struggle with separation and divorce, trauma, attachment disorders, autism spectrum disorder, learning disorders, depression, and anxiety. Amanda has additional training in play therapy, play-based treatment of trauma, sand play therapy, and collaborative law. She has collaborated on the creation of two therapeutic play-based groups for children, "The Friend Ship" and "Play’ in Around."


Recently, Amanda has been incorporating shame identification and resiliency training into her practice when she is working with individuals and families. Embracing the concepts of vulnerability, courage, and self-compassion, as important elements of parenting and increasing the resilience of children is a new found passion of Amanda’s. Amanda was born and raised in Medicine Hat. She is the proud mother of Atticus T. and a dog lover.

2016/17   EMDR Basic Training Completed: Life Journeys Counselling presents Basic Training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) for licensed mental health practitioners.  This powerful empirically tested approach to addressing disturbing memories will change your practice and clients lives.  This course is approved by the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association. (EMDRIA).  The training is in 3 parts: two 3-day sessions including practica, plus 10 hours of consulation (extra practica are available in the extended program).  Participants learn to use EMDR appropriately and effectively in a variety of applications.  Such use is based on understanding the theoretical basis of EMDR, safety issues, integration with a treatment plan, and supervised practice.
